The MoSI Micro-grants Program
Bird banding equipment is expensive! MoSI Micro-grants is a program to enable new and existing cooperators to get mist nets, banding pliers, scales, and other banding equipment at no cost. Over the course of the program, we’ve been able to provide start-up and replacement supplies to dozens of stations. The program is open to existing MoSI stations that are current with their data submission, or new stations that commit to operating for at least five years. The MoSI Micro-grants Program is funded by the
Tracy Aviary, a non-profit based in Salt Lake City, UT, that works to inspire curiosity and caring for birds and nature through education and conservation.
The MoSI International Internship
The MoSI International Internship enables young and early-career MoSI bird banders to come to Canada to learn, and share information with a bird banding crew at Long Point Bird Observatory (LPBO) in Ontario, Canada. The program is a collaboration with our friends at Birds Canada and LPBO. Participants in the program spend between 4-8 weeks in Ontario during the fall (post-breeding) migration season, with all expenses paid by IBP and Birds Canada. The program is open to any bird bander or biologist working at an active MoSI station that is current with their data submission. Good English skills are a must.
The application deadline is MARCH 31 each year, and there is only ONE opening per year. You can download the application form here:
