BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF BURNED FORESTS

Interactive Map of Black-backed Woodpecker Monitoring Results

Locations of Black-backed Woodpecker survey stations in recently burned forest surveyed by The Institute for Bird Populations as part of the Management Indicator Species monitoring program of the US Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region. Red markers indicate survey stations where Black-backed Woodpeckers have been detected in at least one year; blue markers indicate survey stations where Black-backed Woodpeckers have not been detected. Red markers are often obscured by blue markers - zoom in to reveal all the markers of both colors at individual fires. Orange shaded polygons (visible only when the view is zoomed in) indicate fire perimeters; only fires that have been surveyed between 2009 and 2019 are included. Click on survey station marker for survey history or fire polygon to view fire name.
