Bird
and Spatial Datasets
Here we provide selected datasets and links to datasets
relevant to the monitoring, modeling, and management of landbird populations
in the Pacific Northwest. A Google Earth dataset is provided to map
the network of 36 MAPS monitoring stations.
Breeding Bird Survey Trend Analyses: A
multi-sheet Microsoft Excel spreadsheet in which BBS
populations trends and landbird conservation plans are reported
for all species in four regions - Willamette
Lowlands, Northern
Pacific Rainforest, Southern
Pacific Rainforest, and Columbia
Plateau. These trends were estimated over a time period in which
Region 6 MAPS data were collected and analyzed (1992-2006). We also
provide a tool which permits BBS trend estimation in which you can select
the first and last year, multiple species, and multiple regions. www.birdpop.net/scripts/trend07.php
MAPS Datasets: MAPS data may be obtained
from IBP in a manner consistent with the IBP Data Policy.
GIS Layers: These GIS layers were used
in the construction of the species-landscape models (Nott and Michel
2005) and include layers relating to MAPS stations and their surrounding
landscapes, and spatial statistics thereof. Regional-scale layers provide
data on elevation, land cover, streams, forest canopy cover, and forest
health.
Sources of layers used in Nott and Michel (2005) are
listed below. The portions used in the project can be obtained on CD
from IBP. Contact Phil Nott, Box 1346, Poiint Reyes Station, CA 94956.
