1 Region codes identify the MAPS Region in which the station is located. The
region codes are: AK = Alaska Region, B&AC = Boreal & Arctic Canada Region, NW = Northwest
Region, SW = Southwest Region, NC = North-central Region, SC = South-central Region, NE = Northeast Region,
SE = Southeast Region. See the NBII MAPS Home Page
for a map of the MAPS Regions.
2 Location codes are unique four-character codes identifying a national forest, national park,
military installation, or other location where a single station or a cluster of stations is located
and is run by a single operator (often with many assistants).
3 Station codes are four-character codes used to identify stations and are unique within a location. A station is defined as a discrete study area consisting of a fixed number of net sites. The four-character Location code (a unique code identifying a national forest, national park, military installation or other location where a single station or a cluster of stations is located and is run by a single operator, often with many assistants) identifying the location in which the MAPS station occurs follows the Station Name in parentheses.
