1  Location codes are unique four-character codes identifying a national forest, national park, military installation, or other location where a single station or a cluster of stations is located and is run by a single operator (often with many assistants).
2  Station numbers are five-digit numbers used to identify stations and are unique within the MAPS Program. A station is defined as a discrete study area consisting of a number of net sites.
3  Station codes are four-character codes used to identify stations and are unique within a location. A station is defined as a discrete study area consisting of a fixed number of net sites.
4  Latitude of station as precisely as known up to nearest second; given as DD MM SS (degrees, minutes, seconds).
5  Longitude of station as precisely as known up to nearest second; given as DDDD MM SS (degrees, minutes, seconds).
6  Level of precision of latitude-longitude determination: BLK = 10-minute block, 10M = 10 minutes, 01M = 1 minute, 10S = 10 seconds, 01S = 1 second.
7  MAPS region in which the station is located: AK = Alaska Region, B&AC = Boreal & Arctic Canada Region, NW = Northwest Region, SW = Southwest Region, NC = North-central Region, SC = South-central Region, NE = Northeast Region, SE = Southeast Region. 8  Year(s) during which the station was operated between 1989-2003.
