Bird and Spatial
Datasets
This page is under development to provide downloadable
MAPS and other bird data and spatial datasets from the GIS-based projects
used to construct the species-landscape models and subsequent decision
support tools.
The locations of the MAPS stations on DoD installations,
proprietary MAPS bird data, and National Land Cover Datasets land cover
rasters used in the project are only available to DoD employers and
contractors from:
Phil Nott at IBP, PO Box 1346, Point Reyes Station,
CA 94956. (Tel: 415 663 2050, EMail: pnott@birdpop.org)
We provide the results of spatial analyses of National
Land Cover Datasets (1992 and 2001 and differences) for multiple radii
surrounding each of 48 DoD MAPS stations. This allows the allows the
operator to extract spatial statistics given certain criteria and calculate
the means (mean state of the landscape over ten year period) or differences
(cover change) between the two NLCD years http://birdpop.net/frag_anal/
The Breeding Bird Survey permits the calculation of
BBS population trends for numerous states and regions to help the user
identify declining species. IBP developed a "scraper" for
this page which allows you to create a table of trends for multiple
regions and species over a given time frame within the period 1966-2006.
